The Twelve Cookies Of Christmas

THE TWELVE COOKIES OF CHRISTMAS

Dominque was home from Graduate School for Christmas vacation so we did a little “Father-Daughter Bonding” together in the kitchen. We enjoy getting into “Projects” that always take way too much time-and-energy but somehow we manage to pull-it-off without fighting.

We dug through old family recipes, we researched cookbooks and online sites, we bought ingredients and then spent a week baking our TWELVE COOKIES OF CHRISTMAS

Pizzelles

Day One:

We started with this Family Favorite, Pizzelles.

French Cinnamon Palmiers

Day Two:

French Cinnamon Palmiers

Black Walnut Rollups

Day Three:

This is an old “Family Recipe” that was handed down to me from my mother. Black Walnuts grow wild in Pennsylvania where I grew up and my mother would make these cookies every Christmas. Black Walnuts are very difficult to harvest and their unique flavor adds a wonderful taste to baked goods.

Apricot Pistachio Rugelach

Day Four:

HAPPY HANUKKAH — Taking a slight turn from our TWELVE COOKIES OF CHRISTMAS to explore this Eastern European Jewish delicacy, “Apricot Pistachio Rugelach.” Wishing everyone a HAPPY HANUKKAH

Mocha Crinkles

Day Five:

Pecan Tassies

Day Six:

Almond Linzer Cookies

Day Seven:

Alfajores

Day Eight:

Spritz Cookies

Day Nine:

Sourdough Pfefferneusse

Day Ten:

Vanilla Hazelnut Crescents
